Content

The content and schedule of the work internship will be negotiated between you, the Industry Partner and your academic supervisor. Work internships are broadly defined and may include work within an organisation with a defined role, work on a project as part of a multi-disciplinary team or work within a freelance environment. The defining characteristic of a work internship is the involvement of a third party (Industry Partner) within the project/organisation or agreed work internship.
You may not use an existing job/project for Workplace Learning unless you undertake substantially new duties for the duration of your Workplace Learning internship. If you wish to undertake Internship in a workplace at which you already work, your Industry Partner must email the academic supervisor to confirm that the work which you will undertake will be substantially different from your usual duties.

The content of the unit falls into three components: Preparation, Proposal and Review.

The Preparation component of the unit will address:
- Developing a CV, covering letter and portfolio
- Finding and applying for a Workplace Learning internship
- You must complete the Preparation stage before undertaking a work internship

The Proposal component of the unit will address:
- How to prepare a proposal such as aims and objectives, timelines and workplace's Occupational Health and Safety policies
- Conducting themselves in the workplace, workplace health and safety, intellectual property- How to observe and reflect on your workplace experience

- You may not begin your internship until you have submitted your completed CV, cover letter and Proposal and it is approved by your academic supervisor.

The Review component of the unit will comprise:
- - responding to ethical issues arising in the workplace
- analysing and evaluating the work internship experience incorporating relevant unit theories and reading.

Approaches to Teaching and Learning

In this unit, the following approaches are employed to support your learning:
