Rationale

Violence and abuse of girls and women is one of the leading causes of mortality and morbidity in all countries around the world. There is a need for education on these issues within all sections of society and across disciplines. Without cooperation and recognition of the contribution of many sectors including health, welfare, law, environment, and the arts, there will not be effective identification of and response to violence and abuse. This unit aims to provide professionals from all sectors an understanding of violence against women issues and the role in professionals in addressing such issues.
