The aim of the unit is to provide an in-depth examination of a global topic, or synthesis of a subject so that the student develops a broad perspective of major issues facing all researchers, regardless of major, in biogeosciences. Important in this unit is the development of an inquiring approach and analytical thought and skills at an advanced level.

Aims

The aim of the unit is to provide an in-depth examination of a global topic, or synthesis of a subject so that the student develops a broad perspective of major issues facing all researchers, regardless of major, in biogeosciences. Important in this unit is the development of an inquiring approach and analytical thought and skills at an advanced level.

Objectives

Students who complete this unit should:

1. Be conversant with the major issues in your field of study,

2. Be familiar with more topical and specialised issues directly related to your research topic,

3. become familiar with the specilised research techniques employed in your area of study.

Content

Students will research segments of the larger, global topic and lead discussion in class and provide the class with a literature review on those segments.
