This unit seeks to give you the opportunity to apply, under appropriate guidance, the knowledge and skills gained in your course to date and to execute a substantial related project. The unit also aims to allow you to develop the critical professional skills of working within a cross-disciplinary team and, through implementation of your project, develop the understanding of the role of careful planning, scope control and task management in ensuring that the project is successful.

Rationale
The ability to apply knowledge and skills to real-life situations is essential for game and related professionals. A substantial project, under academic supervision, will allow you to develop your initiative and ability to apply your knowledge and skills in a professional capacity. Completing the project will also enable you to appreciate the complementary nature of the course material in total, particularly the need for careful management.
Aims
This unit seeks to give you the opportunity to apply, under appropriate guidance, the knowledge and skills gained in your course to date and to execute a substantial related project. The unit also aims to allow you to develop the critical professional skills of working within a cross-disciplinary team and, through implementation of your project, develop the understanding of the role of careful planning, scope control and task management in ensuring that the project is successful.
Objectives
On completion of this unit you should be able to:
1. prepare a Development Plan, including the planning of tasks and an appropriate time schedule for the project to be developed (GC1-3,GC5);
2. adequately develop a complete development process document (GC1-3,GC5);
3. prepare appropriate documentation in support of a developed project including systems and user documentation (GC2-5);
4. prepare and present an oral pitch to a simulated publisher (GC3,GC5);
5. prepare and present a game project for publication or competition submission (GC3,GC5)
6. develop a sequence of 10 minutes of gameplay or appropriate interaction to professional levels of quality, or develop a research project incorporating a deeper investigation into particular project development issues (GC1-6).

Content
This capstone unit will allow you to integrate the skills and knowledge you have obtained from previous core and specialist units. You will extend your knowledge and skills in respect of project management by completing professional project documentation and managing your team project. The unit focuses on furthering your professional skills in report writing, oral communication, visual communication and game development. Skills in creativity and problem solving should be developed through the product development including all or any of the following:
- Analysis
- Design
- Development
- Testing
- Implementation
- Animation
Approaches to Teaching and Learning
You will be working within a team as part of a simulation of an authentic project. The project will act as a vehicle for you to develop an understanding of professional project skills. Continuing the game design project from INB379, you are responsible for reestablishing your own team to complete the work begun in the design component. The project should be relevant to the practice associated with your degree program.

1. Regular meetings with your team's supervisor will give opportunity for comment on your team progression on your project
2. Each submission requirement for your project will be returned to your team in a timely manner with appropriate comments
