Rationale

In this unit, you will focus on developing skills for creating effective learning environments that develop learning experiences for language, literacy and numeracy teaching and learning. Identifying and developing understandings of diversity and working collaboratively in professional teams are also foci of this unit.

Approaches to Teaching and Learning

This unit is taught through a series of on campus lectures that prepare you for your field placement in a school setting. Online resources are also provided on the unit Blackboard site. For the field experience placement, you are assigned to the supervision of a teacher in a school, and you are supported in your development of skills and applied knowledge, through a sequence of tasks, assigned by the teacher. You have access to a field placement site coordinator and a QUT University Liaison Academic (ULA). Your ULA will also phone your school site and can be accessed by email and phone calls.
