Sample subject outline - Semester 1 2013
Note: Subject outlines often change before the semester begins. Below is a sample outline.
Rationale
Taking responsibility for, and then undertaking projects yourself is an effective form of learning. The involvement with researching the background to the project, then undertaking the work, whether it is practical or theoretical in nature, provides the opportunities for critical, creative and analytical thinking. It provides opportunities to develop skills in working independently or collaboratively. Finally the presentation of the results of the project also provide opportunities to enhance effective communicative skills.

This unit aims to develop student's research, organisation and communication skills in practical areas likely to be encountered in the student's workplace.

2. An ability for creative and analytical thinking, as well as independent problem solving capabilities.
3. An ability to work independently, and if appropriate, collaboratively.
4. An ability to write papers and/or reports suitable for scientific or professional publication.
