Rationale
This unit provides students with an opportunity to undertake advanced studies on a topic of particular relevance to their research project and may involve studies in other disciplines than chemistry.
Aims
To complement the resarch project with appropriate theoretical and/or practical knowledge in related fields.
Objectives
On completion of this unit, you should be able to comprehend, analyse, apply and evaluate material at an advanced level in Chemistry or related fields.
Content
The subjects are chosen to suit individual students but the topics studied would normally be in specific areas of physical chemistry, analytical chemistry, inorganic chemistry or organic chemistry and could be chosen from units presently offered in the Masters program or other postgraduate programs. Relevant material from other accredited courses may be included as part or all of the requirement for this unit as directed by the Honours Coordinator and Head of Discipline.
Approaches to Teaching and Learning
A supervised reading program is involved but the unit may also include a formal lecture program.

The assessment in this unit will be negotiated between you and the teaching staff.The unit will be conducted in close consultation with the staff teaching the unit, so you will have ample opportunities to assess your progress and understanding by one-to-one discussions.
