It enables students to: critically and creatively engage with contemporary concepts, technologies and practices for diverse educational, professional and information contexts, including school libraries; participate in an online learning community; collaborate in the design, development and evaluation of online learning resources.

Rationale
Cyberlearning involves using online technologies critically, ethically and creatively to learn. Contemporary learners are immersed in an online learning environment that is information-rich and rapidly changing. Educators, including teacher-librarians, need to engage confidently with current and emerging online technologies in order to support learning. This unit develops conceptual understandings and pedagogical practices that enable teacher-librarians and other educators to respond innovatively to cyberlearning opportunities and challenges
Aims
The aim of this unit is to provide a forum for you to experience and critique cyberlearning (or online learning) as learner and educator in a dynamic online environment.
Objectives
On completion of this unit you should be able to:
1. Apply cyberlearning theory to practical online learning design (GC: A, B, C, D)
2. Collaboratively create cyberlearning resources. (GC: A, B, C, D, E, F, G)

Content
The unit includes the following topics:

- Learner perspectives
- Educator perspectives
- ICT perspectives
- Cyberlearning design
Approaches to Teaching and Learning
For both internet and internal students, this unit fosters online interaction, exploration, co-construction, independent study and evaluation. You will experience cyberlearning from the varying perspectives of learner, educator, information/knowledge creator, critic and communicator. You will critically and creatively engage with concepts, technologies and practices for diverse learning and information contexts, including school libraries. As a member of the CLN601 cyberlearning community you will communicate via a range of online media. You will collaborate in a virtual team project to create a cyberlearning resource. Inderpendendently you will design a cyberlearning experience, evaluate online resources and critically reflect on your learning in this unit. The teaching team will act as cyberlearning advisers to support your collaborative and independent learning.
Assessment
Assessment activities will allow you to demonstrate your developing cyberlearning knowledge and practice.The teaching team will provide regular oral and written feedback, via online media, phone and in person (as appropriate to internet and internal students).
