Industry networks are of key importance in Entertainment. In this unit you will extend and apply your critical knowledge of entertainment industries to the 'real-world' task of creating and updating an online directory of entertainment industries. The online directory will be a public product.

Rationale

Industry networks are of key importance in Entertainment. In this unit you will extend and apply your critical knowledge of entertainment industries to the 'real-world' task of creating and updating an online directory of entertainment industries. Through this project, you will also refine your project management skills, information analysis, online design skills, and team leadership and membership abilities.

Aims

The aim of this unit is to deepen and build upon your knowledge of entertainment and entertainment industries by applying it to the practical task of creating and updating a public online directory of entertainment industries. It is also the aim of the unit to further develop your producerly skills including determination, keeping calm when faced with unexpected problems, and treating people well; and to further develop your project management, communication, and leadership skills by providing you with an opportunity to apply them in a public project.

Objectives

On completion of this unit you should be able to:

1. Communicate the results of your research into entertainment industries to a public online audience at an advanced level;
2. Summarise and critically explain the various subsectors of the entertainment industry;
3. Apply effective ethical, cross-cultural, and professional communication practices at an advanced level;
4. Work independently and as a team member in the context of a professional project.

This unit addresses content such as:


  • Approaches to defining sectors of the entertainment industry

  • Project management

  • Developing determination

  • Developing the ability to remain calm when faced with unexpected problems

  • Learning how to treat people well

  • Current awareness of entertainment industries and subsectors in specific locations

  • Entertainment industry networks

Approaches to Teaching and Learning

Teaching and learning in this unit involves introductory briefing sessions, workshops, hands-on computer laboratory sessions, and group work sessions. The workshop program will be augmented with a reporting session in which you will present and lead discussion on your team's work-in-progress on the project.

Assessment

LATE ASSIGNMENTS
An assignment submitted after the due date without an approved extension will not be marked. If you are unable to complete your assignment on time, you should submit on time whatever work you have done.
