In this unit you will learn how creativity and business can work together to complement each other in the entertainment industries. This unit will assist you in developing your ability to combine entertainment creativity and business in productive ways. It unit addresses content such as: the current situation of the entertainment industries in Australia and globally, models of creativity, and the relationship between creativity and constraints such as business requirements. As part of your learning, you will write an entertainment proposal which demonstrates your ability to balance creative and business skills.

Rationale
In order to work in the entertainment industries you need to understand how creativity and business can work together to complement each other. Successful entertainment industry professionals know how creative processes and projects work, as well as how businesses work; they combine and balance the two to produce effective entertainment. This unit aims to equip you with this ability to combine understandings of entertainment industries and business in the context of the entertainment industries.
Aims
The aim of this unit is to provide you with an understanding of the way in which creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial thinking can work together to complement each other in the entertainment industries, and to help you develop the ability to bring them together in productive ways. In more practical terms, this unit aims to provide you with an understanding of the different stages of the entrepreneurial process in the particular context of the Entertainment Industries.
Objectives
On completion of this unit you should be able to:
1. Demonstrate effective creativity for the Entertainment Industries
2. Apply a range of business skills including an understanding of business models, an understanding of finance and budgeting and familiarity with Industrial Relations.
3. Develop an entertainment project which balances creativity and business.
Content

You will attend one lecture perr week which involves interactive workshops components. In addition, you will attend one tutorial perr week, at which you will have the opportunity to discuss your unit ideas and issues with other students and with an academic staff member
