Rationale
The growth of arts programs, arts festivals, and arts and cultural precincts across Australia and internationally is driving demand for arts managers with strong management and administration skills. To be effective, arts managers must understand organisation, organisational management, and organisational planning processes. More critically, arts managers must be able to develop organisational structures and strategies appropriate for the arts, cultural and creative industries, in which micro, small-to-medium and government organisations often prevail, and in which policy, industrial and production contexts often change rapidly. In this unit, you will consider the role of the contemporary arts manager, and the skills arts managers require to develop, manage and maintain appropriate organisational structures and strategies for a range of arts, cultural and creative industries organisations.
