Contemporary editing, audio and vision operational skills require technical understandings and competencies. This demonstration based unit will provide students with an introduction to the technical dimensions supporting audio visual productions and will utilise Editing laboratories, TV Studio and Studio Control room, cameras and sound recording equipment.

Rationale
Contemporary editing, audio and vision operational skills require technical understandings and competencies. This demonstration based unit will provide students with an introduction to the technical dimensions supporting audio visual productions and will utilise Editing laboratories, TV Studio and Studio Control room, cameras and sound recording equipment.
Aims
This unit aims to familiarise you with technical AV systems and processes. It will provide you with the operational skills required to operate Avid and other Technical Production including waveform monitors, CCU, vision switching, lighting desk, audio desk, and the operation of camera and sound recording equipment. It will also provide vocational knowledge relevant to contemporary broadcasting and AV productions, and prepare you for professional practices required in technical environments.
Objectives
On completion of this unit you should be able to:
1. Demonstrate a practical understanding of the basic technical processes behind AV production
equipment and environments.
2. Identify and discuss the roles and responsibilities of key technical roles and positions.
3. Identify and perform basic roles in post-production and production settings.
4. Apply and discuss fundamental Occupational Health and Safety knowledge and application in FTV settings.
Content
This unit addresses content such as:
Technical and operational requirements pertinent to professional film, television and new media production. The procedures and knowledge obtained in this unit will ensure a technical competency with the equipment underpinning the FTVNM production course.
Approaches to Teaching and Learning
This unit will be taught through demonstrations and discussions. All demonstrations will occur in appropriate technical and professional workplaces within the Film, TV and New Media discipline. As appropriate, the demonstrations will be conducted by a combination of technical support officers and teaching staff.
Assessment
LATE ASSIGNMENTS
An assignment submitted after the due date without an approved extension will not be marked. If you are unable to complete your assignment on time, you should submit on time whatever work you have done.
