This major project is the final and culminating activity of the Master of Creative Industries. It serves to focus each candidate’s learning through a specifically designed and substantial project that seeks to realise innovations in the candidate’s practice or workplace. Each project will be designed to ‘fit’ the scale, scope and focus of 48 credit points.

This unit aims to provide the creative industries worker with an opportunity to plan, implement and evaluate a major project professional project in the Creative Industries. Such a project may be located in the candidate’s workplace, constructed as an internship with a innovative firm or company or a piece of scholarly enquiry which addresses the challenges of innovation within one of the creative industries.

Rationale

This is a multi-part unit.
This major project is the final and culminating activity of the Master of Creative Industries. It serves to focus each candidate's learning through a specifically designed and substantial project that seeks to realise innovations in the candidate's practice or workplace. Each project will be designed to 'fit' the scale, scope and focus of 48 credit points.

Aims

This unit aims to provide the creative industries professional with an opportunity to develop and deliver a major professional project in the Creative Industries. Such a project may be located in the candidate's workplace, constructed as an internship, a creative work, or a piece of scholarly enquiry which addresses the challenges of innovation within the contemporary creative industries.

Objectives

On completion of this unit, you will be able to:
1. Design a substantial project that investigates and exemplifies innovation in the Creative Industries.
2. Implement that project.
3. Evaluate and prepare the outcomes of the project and submit them for examination.

Content

Generic Attributes:
On completion of this unit you will be able to demonstrate:
- Critical and analytical thinking capabilities
- Communication skills for critical and analytical thinking - both written and oral
- Advanced creative practice
- Delivery of an advanced creative or scholarly enquiry project contextualised within the creative industries

Approaches to Teaching and Learning

This unit may invovle lectures, seminars and workshops. The unit is designed to encourage critical inquiry and intellectual debate. Through their research activity and creative professional practice, students will be provided with opportunities to demonstrate entrepreneurship and innovation in the context of the Creative Industries.This unit fosters a commitment to professionalism and ethical practice.

Assessment

LATE ASSIGNMENTS
An assignment submitted after the due date without an approved extension will not be marked. If you are unable to complete your assignment on time, you should submit on time whatever work you have done.

FORMATIVE
Formative assessment will occur with supervisor(s) during the project with extensive feedback on progression, milestone completion examination preparation while summative assessment occurs with the presentation of the identified examinable outputs. Internal and external examiners will be used.

Each Major Project will be set down and agreed to by the candidate and supervisor prior to the commencement of the project. The design and assessment requirements for the Major Project will be planned in advance and documented in the Project Proposal, developed in the unit KKP003:Project Design in the Creative Industries. The examinable outputs for each project will be indentified and agreed to by you and your supervisor at the beginning of each Project.

Each major project is expected to be between 10,000 -12,000 words or the equivalent in non-textual examination outputs.

You will be awarded a final grade on a 1 to 7 scale.
