Rationale

The Faculty of Creative Industries intends that its graduates practice as professionals in their respective discipline or disciplines. Increasingly, a major part of such practice is the instigation, management, monitoring, and reporting on Creative Industries projects. This unit offers students experience at participating in an advertised project that may be offered by one or more disciplines in the Faculty. Normally projects are advertised in the preceding semester through the CI Transitions Hub (log on to BB > Community top tab > Creative Industries > CI_Transitions). For some students this unit will be taken as the second of two 'project' units related to the same project, as it promotes a deeper understanding of theory and practice. In such cases this unit may be a corequisite to the first unit, KKB345 Creative Industries Project 1.

Aims

The aim of this unit is to enable you will undertake a supervised project in a team-oriented environment which involves reflective, critical study as well as practical application/research. The experience and skills gained from this project are designed to contribute towards your increased self-knowledge and confidence as a practitioner in the Creative Industries. Objectives

On completion of this unit you should be able to:
1. Apply discipline specific skills to achieve project outcomes
2. Critically evaluate information from a variety of sources using effective strategies and appropriate technologies and tools
3. Work collaboratively to generate new ideas and to develop project plans and outcomes
4. Identify and implement solutions to problems arising from practice, being sensitive to the users' needs, available resources and timeframes
5. Critically evaluate the project experience and communicate findings to various audiences (eg. users, markets and peers) using appropriate modes of communication
6. Synthesise knowledge and/or skills acquired through previous or concurrent project experiences

Content

Content will be specified according to the nature of the project and detailed when the proforma for the unit is completed by the staff supervisor(s) in the relevant discipline(s).

Approaches to Teaching and Learning

Although there may be introductory tutorials and end-of-project seminars, learning and teaching for this unit will largely be independent of scheduled class sessions. For each advertised project, a staff supervisor from the relevant discipline will be appointed to oversee the project. Supervisors' names and details will be provided in the Ci Transitions Hub Blackboard site. Individuals and team members are responsible for the timely completion of their project. Scheduled consultations with the staff supervisor will provide the opportunity for dialogue and advice to participants in the project.

Assessment

LATE ASSIGNMENTS
An assignment submitted after the due date without an approved extension will not be marked.

You will receive formative feedback on your progress in this unit during discussions with relevant staff /project supervisor throughout the semester.

SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT
You will be awarded a final grade on a 1 to 7 scale
- Students who have completed KKB345 and are continuing in KKB346 in an adjoining semester while undertaking the same project as in KKB345 will receive a grade of A (incomplete) for KKB345, which will be converted into a numerical grade upon the completion of KKB346. In this circumstance, the grades for KKB345 and KKB346 normally will be identical.
- Students undertaking both KKB345 and KKB346 while working on a single project, will only complete one Proposal assignment, one Evaluation assignment, and other assessment as set by the Project Supervisor at the commencement of the project.
- Students who are enrolled concurrently in KKB345 and KKB346 and undertaking an extended double project normally will receive an identical grade for both units.
- Students who have completed a project in KKB345, and are undertaking a second, different project in KKB346, will complete a Proposal, an Evaluation, and other assessment set by each Project Supervisor for each project.

Description: (Summative and Formative) The project proposal must be completed on the Proposal template provided. It will include:
- Your roles and responsibilities within the project team
- Outline of the project including time-line and major milestones as agreed with Project Supervisor and other team members
- Your expectations of and aspirations for the project - linking the acquisition of graduate capabilities to general work environment. Where relevant: Risk assessment - Health and Safety and Intellectual property considerations.

Assessment name: Evaluation
Description: (Summative) The Evaluation is essentially an analysis of your project experience in which you demonstrate your ability to integrate your course knowledge, readings, concepts, and theories into a discussion of what you did in your project work, and why you did it that way. It also gives you the opportunity to evaluate your original aims and objectives, allowing you to learn about professional goal-setting. The Ci Transitions Hub BB site provides you with a very clear set of guidelines as to how the Evaluation is structured, and what it must contain.
