The ability to work collaboratively and to communicate effectively is essential for all Creative Industries professionals. In this unit you will have the opportunity to acquire and apply research, collaborative practices and project management skills through the collaborative development of a Creative Industries project proposal. This unit is a complement to KKB101 Creative Industries: People and Practices and examines the practical requirements of contributing to cultures and establishing connections with communities.

Rationale

KKB102 is the second of two foundation-level core units in the BCI and associated double degrees. During this unit, you will learn about concepts and principles of creative entrepreneurship. Creative entrepreneurship is the practice of applying, sharing, or distributing creative work. You will also gain a foundational knowledge of effective creative group work and oral communication, both of which are essential for your studies and for professional practice in the Creative Industries.

This unit draws upon cutting edge research into the distinctive characteristics of the creative industries and the creative workforce to introduce you to study and work as an emerging inter-disciplinary creative practitioner. This unit provides an introduction to several applied aspects of creative practice, as a foundation to building a sustainable creative career.

Aims

The intention of this unit is to develop your capacity to build a sustainable lifelong career in the creative industries, by introducing you to creative entrepreneurship concepts, principles and practices. It will also enhance your creative teamwork, oral communication and conflict resolution skills for various professional and academic purposes.

Objectives

On completion of this unit you should be able to:
1. Investigate and evaluate creative industries projects in terms of key creative entrepreneurship principles and concepts
2. Apply basic creative entrepreneurship skills, creative problem solving and collaborative practices in the development of a creative industries project proposal.
3. Apply oral and written persuasive communication skills in the presentation of a collaborative project proposal.
4. Identify, apply and manage the processes and practices required for successful collaborative work.

Content

This unit may include content such as:
· Creative enterprise and entrepreneurship concepts, features and principles
· Introductory creative opportunity identification, and stakeholder relationship management
· Oral communication and project pitching skills
· Theories, principles and practices of teamwork, collaboration and collaborative creativity
. Introductory professional conflict resolution skills

Approaches to Teaching and Learning

Teaching and learning approaches may include the following:
· online and/or face-to-face delivery

· workshops
· self-paced skill development modules

Various self-help resources will be available for you in class and/or online.
You must have read any set material before class, and bring relevant materials with you. You should discuss your progress with your tutor and draw their attention to any problems you are experiencing.

Assessment

LATE ASSIGNMENTS
An assignment submitted after the due date without an approved extension will not be marked. If you are unable to complete your assignment on time, you should submit on time whatever work you have done.

Description: Individually, research and critically evaluate a creative industries project in terms of creative entrepreneurship principles and concepts. Produce a written report of findings.
