The sequence of six Design Studio units is fundamental to the course and focuses on the integration of design principles and approaches with the practical skills and conceptual understandings of garment design and construction. KFB202 builds on skills developed in KFB101, KFB102 and KFB200.
Aims
This unit aims to develop a combination of initiative, creativity self-reliance and advanced technical skills.
Objectives
On completion of this unit you should be able to:
1. locate and synthesise information in order to support conceptual ideas
2. develop advanced solutions to design ideas by responding to the requirements of a brief
3. apply advanced knowledge and skills of pattern engineering and garment construction
Content
Unit content may include:
Design Development and Application, Pattern and Clothing Technology, CAD software for the Fashion industry.
Approaches to Teaching and Learning
Lectures, supervised studio practice, discussion, formative tasks with feedback, critique and analysis.

Within stage two you will be asked to pattern cut and toile nominated design ideas selected from stage one design presentation. Verbal formative feedback will be provided on key fabrication elements of the sample.
