Rationale
Synopsis
This unit provides a focused deeper understanding of the individual student's research program through study of an advanced topic(s) in the field of medical radiation technology.
Rational
The specialised and technically specific nature of each student's research program requires a customised foundation. The availability of the unit is necessary to provide an appropriate focussed support program.
Aims
The main aim of this unit is to expand the student's knowledge in an advanced topic in medical radiation technology.
Objectives
To provide a high level of understanding of the principles of selected topics relevant to the medical radiation profession.
Content
A course of lectures or a reading program on a topic selected by the supervisor and student. The content and topic will be determined by the student's current research and availability of appropriate staff, visiting academics and specialist external personnel.
Approaches to Teaching and Learning
The unit will comprise an appropriate combination of a self paced reading program, lectures, tutorials, laboratory work and field visits. The exact nature will be dependent on the student's research topic.
Assessment
Assessment is negotiated and approved in consultation with the supervisor.Students will receive regular appropriate feedback from academic staff and practicing professionals in the clinical workplace.
