QUT Course Structure

ALL LOTE - GROUP Y (with PE as GROUP X)

Language units are delivered through an alliance between QUT, Griffith University and University of Queensland. French, German, Indonesian, and Japanese units are offered cross institutionally at either UQ or GU. Travel between campuses will be required, and timetable clashes may occur. Mandarin is available at QUT.

LOTE students are required to complete 72 credit points of discipline/content studies ie 6 units of study. Students who have taken their LOTE to Year 12 or equivalent do not take the introductory units. Students will be guided by the language units shown in the language stream that they have selected on their study plan.

Students must apply for Cross Institutional study through the Brisbane Universities Language Alliance (BULA), and this is done at the following link: http://www.bula.edu.au/ The unit codes required will be found on your study plan, once you have selected the language stream you wish to study.

For queries regarding the delivery of Japanese, German, Indonesian and French language units, please contact the Faculty of Business on 3138 2050 or email bus@qut.edu.au.

Native speakers are required to complete two Higher Level units of language studies, and an additional 48 credit points of study (4 units) which may include CLB042 Primary LOTE Curriculum Studies 1 and three/four additional units selected from the English or ESL teaching areas. Students who consider their level of competency does not fit with any of the above should contact the language specialist for their area of study for an assessment.

For Mandarin units, please see under the heading LOTE: Mandarin - GROUP Y
