Teaching Area Choices - Discipline X and Discipline Y
Successful applicants receive an offer in one of three streams: general, home economics or physical education. A good background in your selected teaching areas at Year 12 level (or equivalent) is strongly recommended particularly for language studies.
You will select your two teaching areas, one from group X and one from group Y.
Some subjects are taught at Gardens Point campus and timetable incompatabilities may exist with subjects taught at Kelvin Grove.
A research option is available to high-achieving students.
Students must choose one teaching area from Discpline X, and one from Discipline Y only.
GROUP X: Where the same subject is listed in both Groups X and Y (eg. English), it may only be selected once.
Home Economics (available only to students entering through the Home Economics entry point)
Physical Education (available only to students entering through the Physical Education entry point)
Physical Education (group X) and Health Education (group Y) is not a recommended teaching area combination. Physical Education students should select a second teaching area that will broaden their career opportunities. Students selecting Home Economics or Physical Education are to complete 96 credit points (8 units) of discipline studies in these areas.
