Esports

Our esports program is ingrained with community, competition, education, and wellbeing, with online safety and governance at its core. Not only do we have a fully equipped esports arena with broadcasting and live commentary functionality, but our academy program is a great opportunity for students to connect and compete in our intervarsity tournaments.

Elite sport

We take great pride in championing our student-athletes who strive for excellence at the highest levels of competition. Our primary commitment is to get athletes to the top of their game in both their academic pursuits and sporting achievements. To achieve this goal, QUT offers services such as the Elite Athlete Program, scholarship opportunities, and a suite of complementary amenities.

Our Elite Athlete Program provides eligible students access to academic flexibility, support services, personal and professional development, scholarships, and funding opportunities.

Partnering with the AIS has cemented the student-athlete experience and enabled career-best outcomes in both academic and sporting arenas for our students. The QUT-AIS Scholarships provide students with financial support, membership to the Elite Athlete Program and access to the College of Excellence.

Representative sport

With a rich history in intervarsity events, we offer a range of opportunities for students to wear the QUT colours and represent our community. We compete in various events, including Indigenous Nationals, the Sports Bowl and UniSport Nationals.

Whether you’re in a swim cap at nationals, on the athletics track, scoring goals on the field, or pushing your own limits competing in triathlon, we are proud of our competitive ambition and aim to stand out in the national university landscape.

Inclusion and empowerment

We value diversity and believe sport should offer opportunities for all, underpinned by good governance, culture and integrity.

Driving connection and inclusivity through sport is central to our strategy. Breaking down the barriers to sport through partnerships with Deadly Choices, Pride in Sport and Multicultural Australia has provided positive pathways for student success and engagement.

We are committed to ensuring the social responsibility of sport is embedded within the foundations of our programs. Aligned with QUT Connections we deliver equal opportunities, reduce barriers to participation and leave no one on the sidelines.

The QUT Sports Strategy

Launched in August 2022 the QUT Sports Strategy defines our vision for the role of universities in the national sport landscape.

Our integrated approach focuses on aligning internal agendas positioning QUT Sport as a firm nexus between teaching, research, and its application.

To complement QUT Connections, our wider strategic plan, the sport strategy focuses our energy on four distinct areas that underpin our plans, programs, and operations.
